What a day...
Well my plan this morning was to take a day or two to get things set up. I guess that won't be happening given this mornings wonderful news out of Iraq. The faces of the Iraqi people (posted over at Powerline) tells the story! Omar at Iraq the Model tells the story. However if you listen to the "drive by media" you would think that this was a major set-back as opposed to being a major victory!
"The killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi removes the man who took Iraq's insurgency to new heights of savagery but it also creates a martyr whose inspiration will mobilize new recruits," according to a Reuters "report."
"But any hopes the Jordanian-born terror leader's death would help stem the violence in Iraq were dimmed hours later when a car bomb exploded in a Baghdad market, killing 12 and wounding 65." says an AP report.
This is from the New York Times:
The American ambassador, Zalmay Khalilzad, . . . described Mr. Zarqawi's death as "a great success for Iraq" in its war with terrorists, and congratulated General Casey, "whose forces carried out this very vital mission." In a personal nod to General Casey, he noted that the American commander "has been here now for more than 700 days"--an oblique way, perhaps, of saying that Mr. Zarqawi's death marked a rare upturn in the war for the force of 135,000 American troops General Casey leads, who have lost more than 2,400 soldiers dead and more than 17,000 wounded, with no end to the war in sight.
Some Democrats, never ones to put politics in front of country, had this to say about today's events.
"This is just to cover Bush's [rear] so he doesn't have to answer" for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers, said Rep. Pete Stark, California Democrat. "Iraq is still a mess -- get out."
Even the denizens of the reality based community chimed in.
Very curious. I wonder how this plays into neocon plans to attack Iran?
How sad - you know my reaction?? I laughed out loud and said the same thing you did, "AGAIN???" How sad that we cannot trust our government to be honest with us in matters of war and death. The boy who cried wolf is not believed in my house.
Z has only one leg and has already died or escaped so many times...Nah. I don't believe the story.
I don't buy it either...Wonder if they had to cut off the leg of the "Zarqawi" for authenticity purposes? Convenient too that this would happen now....guess we should just all forget about that Haditha mess, the fact that we are approaching 2,500 dead and the fact that our economy is in big trouble.
It's almost an "open joke" among the military and civilians who know how PsyOps operate, and the History, that Zarqowi is merely a "Pentagon creation." And oh, don't we need some good news now? It's so predictable I could write the OP Orders. It's all bullshit LIES paraded around for PR exploitation.
There you have it friends....Bush Derangement Syndrome on display for all to see. Oh well, as long as they keep it up, people like me will have more than enough to write on.
