Hypocracy and Global Warming
As I have mentioned before, global warming is NOT decided fact. The one thing I really had not touched on, and it is important for the discussion, is the manner in which the global warming alarmists treat those who dare to disagree with them. I mentioned here how the proponents of global warming were demanding that Max Mayfield (Mister Hurricane) resign from NOAA because he stated that it was not a given fact that global warming was the cause of last years very active hurricane season. However, this story takes the conversation a step further. The writer wrote an article saying that global warming (as a phenomonon caused by mankind) was not a given. The responses he got were quite typical leftist debate style.....
"Dear Mr. Rohrich: You are an idiot."
Well, that settles it......global warming must be true...I mentioned Mr. Rohrich's dealings with the fever swamp in a previous post, but I wanted to bring it up again in this context because of the zealotry and hypocracy that the leadership of the global warming movement leaders (like former VP Al Gore). For you see while the rank and file of the global warming movement (like Mr. Rohrich's correspondent) are living the austire life - trying hard to live a "carbon-neutral lifestyle, their leadership is only "talking the talk". When it comes to following his own counsel (Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, use a clothesline, drive a hybrid, use renewable energy, dramatically cut back on consumption), the former Vice President has a long way to go.
"Public records reveal that as Gore lectures Americans on excessive consumption, he and his wife Tipper live in two properties: a 10,000-square-foot, 20-room, eight-bathroom home in Nashville, and a 4,000-square-foot home in Arlington, Va. (He also has a third home in Carthage, Tenn.) For someone rallying the planet to pursue a path of extreme personal sacrifice, Gore requires little from himself.
Then there is the troubling matter of his energy use. In the Washington, D.C., area, utility companies offer wind energy as an alternative to traditional energy. In Nashville, similar programs exist. Utility customers must simply pay a few extra pennies per kilowatt hour, and they can continue living their carbon-neutral lifestyles knowing that they are supporting wind energy. Plenty of businesses and institutions have signed up. Even the Bush administration is using green energy for some federal office buildings, as are thousands of area residents.
But according to public records, there is no evidence that Gore has signed up to use green energy in either of his large residences. When contacted Wednesday, Gore's office confirmed as much but said the Gores were looking into making the switch at both homes. Talk about inconvenient truths. "
Uh oh.....busted!!!!! And that dear readers, is one of many reasons why I have fallen away from the Democratic Party. They love to preach about all of the sacrifices that we Americans need to make "for the common good" and yet when push comes to shove, they are the last ones to make the same sacrifices that they demand that the rest of us make. That and the simple fact is, they are claiming that global warming is fact, when the fact is - the jury is still out on that one.
