Jack Kingston cited two startling comparisons on cancer survival rates.The survival rate for breast cancer in the United States is 84%; in Britain, it’s 69%.
The survival rate for prostate cancer in the United States is 92%; it’s only 51% in Great Britain.
That last statistic was a jaw-dropper for me. Think of the difference between 9 men in 10 surviving in the United States vs. 1 in 2 men dying of prostate cancer in the UK.
Think about it - men in the "great civilized" nation of Great Britian with it's single payer plan have a 50/50 shot of surviving Prostate Cancer. Yeah that is something to aspire to all right.
Meanwhile the Campaigner in Chief is busy back-pedaling away from the Kennedy Health care bill as more and more details about the costs and restrictions and pork attached to the bill are coming out.....
"This is not the Administration’s bill," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said in a statement following the Congressional Budget Office's analysis of Sen. Ted Kennedy's health care reform legislation, "and it's not even the final Senate Committee bill."
And yet that is exactly what the President was campaigning FOR when he went to Green Bay last week and Chicago yesterday.....
Meanwhile the estimated cost of this bill keeps climing....can you say FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS? That is what one independent group says will be the true 10 year cost of this bill when you factor in all of the variables that the CBO left off!
As I said yesterday, I agree that we need reform but this is NOT the reform that the American people were promised or wanted. It's time to drive a stake into the heart of this bill so that the discussion can turn to REAL reform - a compromise that includes voices from ALL sides of the debate - not just the side that the government and the media want you to hear.

It’s official. America and the World are now in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. A World EPIDEMIC with potential catastrophic consequences for ALL of the American people. The first PANDEMIC in 41 years. And WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES will have to face this PANDEMIC with the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed World.
STAND READY AMERICA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF YOUR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.
We spend over twice as much of our GDP on healthcare as any other country in the World. And Individual American spend about ten times as much out of pocket on healthcare as any other people in the World. All because of GREED! And the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare system in America.
And while all this is going on, some members of congress seem mostly concern about how to protect the corporate PROFITS! of our GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT NATIONAL DISGRACE. A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT DISGRACE that is in fact, totally valueless to the public health. And a detriment to national security, public safety, and the public health.
Progressive democrats and others should stand firm in their demand for a robust public option for all Americans, with all of the minimum requirements progressive democrats demanded. If congress can not pass a robust public option with at least 51 votes and all robust minimum requirements, congress should immediately move to scrap healthcare reform and demand that President Obama declare a state of NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY! Seizing and replacing all PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance plans with the immediate implementation of National Healthcare for all Americans under the provisions of HR676 (A Single-payer National Healthcare Plan For All).
Coverage can begin immediately through our current medicare system. With immediate expansion through recruitment of displaced workers from the canceled private sector insurance industry. Funding can also begin immediately by substitution of payroll deductions for private insurance plans with payroll deductions for the national healthcare plan. This is what the vast majority of the American people want. And this is what all objective experts unanimously agree would be the best, and most cost effective for the American people and our economy.
In Mexico on average people who received medical care for A-H1N1 (Swine Flu) with in 3 days survived. People who did not receive medical care until 7 days or more died. This has been the same results in the US. But 50 million Americans don’t even have any healthcare coverage. And at least 200 million of you with insurance could not get in to see your private insurance plans doctors in 2 or 3 days, even if your life depended on it. WHICH IT DOES!
Contact congress and your representatives NOW! AND SPREAD THE WORD!

Not sure if the last comment was an attempt at satire or if it was for real. The GLOBAL PANdemIC over the Swine Hinny flu has infected more people than the flu itself. A relatively mile strain that has killed mostly newborns and the infirmed is our new reason to gut a health care system and go to one that has bankrupted the moral back bone of multiple countries? And the Congressional Budget Office says "while it will put 39 million people on insurance plans, it will drive off more than 23 million more from their existing plans." So as 23 million get their benefits reduced(at best)we pick up a trillion dollar tab. What a bargain. Sign up for a government sponsored lobotomy! Contact congress and your representatives NOW! Actually, the GLOBAL PANDEMIC most feared by the Lady and her pals is universal health coverage. She is, by all accounts, far too happy with a system that does this to the "responsible ones" who bother to obtain coverage and pay premiums:
" Executives of three of the nation’s largest health insurers told federal lawmakers in Washington on Tuesday that they would continue canceling medical coverage for some sick policyholders, despite withering criticism from Republican and Democratic members of Congress who decried the practice as unfair and abusive.
The hearing on the controversial action known as rescission, which has left thousands of Americans burdened with costly medical bills despite paying insurance premiums, began a day after President Obama outlined his proposals for revamping the nation’s healthcare system.
An investigation by the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations showed that health insurers WellPoint Inc., UnitedHealth Group and Assurant Inc. canceled the coverage of more than 20,000 people, allowing the companies to avoid paying more than $300 million in medical claims over a five-year period.
It also found that policyholders with breast cancer, lymphoma and more than 1,000 other conditions were targeted for rescission and that employees were praised in performance reviews for terminating the policies of customers with expensive illnesses."
But it sure beats gummint care, doesn't it?

Oh, and by the way? Your "independent group" is HSI Networks, LLC, an outfit that makes its money doing projects for - get this - giant health insurers! Like the ones who testified before Congress insisting they'd never stop rescinding the health coverage for sick people. And guess what! HSI Networks, LLC, boasts on its website about doing a project for United Health Group's "disease management program." And projects like "claims-based evaluations." And this gem:
"HSI created the specifications for extracting ten years of claims data from a large insurer. This work was completed as a part of a large multi-year research project. This database was used to identify the impact of physician practice style on primary care provider cost and referral patterns."
Do you think that the "impact of physician practice style on primary care provider cost and referral patterns" meant devising better ways for doctors to spend MORE time with their patients and get them MORE care? Of course not -- these people figure out ways to help their clients give less care for more money.

Rescission of coverage- try getting experimental or innovative procedures done in a one size fits all gummint care system. Try calling it try again somewhere else(if they let you). But by all means dump your money into a VA Hospital style system. You think the whole system is working against you? Try pedalling uphill in your gummint care system. Oh but wait, IT'S FREE! No one will ever have to pay for it because Uncle Sam will buy it for you with someone elses money. Hooray! What a bargain.

Sigh. Comments three and four of this thread contain verifiable, factual information that refutes what the Lady said many times over. She instead ignores that pertinent information, choosing to take my comments made in frustration at another incoherent comment, accuse me of "not having intellectual heft" or some such twaddle, and then makes some juvenile comment about my professional capabilities based on the fact that I call her on her baloney.
This has led me to a decision. Because I am no longer amused by you - and make no mistake, my own amusement is why I'm here - I'm quitting you, Lady.
