Selective Law Enforcement

Oye....Bennion Spencer has a new ad out that he knows is flat out false. It is a 15 second ad titled "Razorwire".

Jason Chaffetz wants to put undocumented women and children behind razorwire. That's an awful place when your only crime is seeking a better life.

In every debate between the candidates the issue of ILLEGAL immigration has come up time and time again. And time and time again Jason has said that he wants to put ILLEGAL immigrants behind bars if they have been arrested of a crime in addition to breaking our immigration laws...not children and only women who have committed other crimes. If Spencer does not think that our immigration laws are worthy of enforcement, one has to wonder what other laws Spencer thinks are optional. Maybe the statewide smoking ban? How about the speed limit? OH or how about environmental protection laws???? And why is it so hard for some people to differentiate between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration?

Really Bennion - are you that bereft of ideas that you have nothing better to do that to air false negative advertising?

UPDATE - I forgot to add this. The Western Governors Association has proposed a
similar facility to the one Chaffetz proposes.

The Western Governors Association has proposed construction of regional correctional facilities to hold immigrants convicted of crimes. Chaffetz has suggested tent cities surrounded by barbed wire instead, as a way to cut costs.

I can't wait to see how Mr. Spencer and his supporters spin THIS!

  • Agreed! It seems that Bennion Spencer is merely trying to throw a red herring out into the public in order to hide the facts.
Fact: “Jason has called for a federal detention facility in the west to house federal prisoners. Only those convicted of a crime would be housed in this facility.”
But many of us may still be wondering why Jason would even advocate such a facility? The reason is simple - federal prisoners who are not violent criminals are often released because there is no prison space to hold them. Thus, a newly built detention facility would serve to house those who are convicted of federal crimes – whether or not these people are illegal aliens.
I think that it is interesting to note that in all of this Bennion Spencer made a huge jump from federal prisoners to illegal immigrants. Obviously, since Mr. Spencer has to resort to blatant misrepresentations of Mr. Chaffetz’s true views on the issues, he is only reaffirming what the majority of us already knew: he does not have a single, solid stance on any of the issues, especially this one. This ad by Bennion Spencer is nothing more than smoke and mirrors; it seems that he has resorted to cheap tricks to distract the public from his true views.

  • Bennion has recently changed his plan for illegal immigration...

It now says..from issues at bennionforcongress

After: "Bring undocumented immigrants out of the shadows and put those who are in good standing on a pathway to citizenship so that they can contribute to society by paying their fair share of taxes."

It said before a fine would be required. And it said English. It also said get in line. Why has he softened this?

Before: "Bring undocumented immigrants out of the shadows and permit those who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and get in line to become legal US citizens. "

  • If this Spencer guy can read "razor wire" into anything Jason has spoken or written -- imagine how confused he might be when is he tries to read a piece of draft legislation.

Arc - I suspect that it is because the current leadership of the DNCC has DEMANDED it. If you look at the way business is done in the House there is no such thing as free or independent thought in the House Democratic Caucus - there is only blind obedience to the ideology of the Leadership. Take a look at what had to happen in order to allow a vote on expanding domestic energy production! I mentioned this in a prior post.

  • Asserting that the DNCC demands anything from the Democratic candidates in Utah illuminates a glaring hole in your lack of understanding. I thought you might be making a good point with this post until you wrote that in the comments. Now you just look like a Redstate Robot yourself. Best to get a clue before typing. The DNCC doesn't even know Utah exists.
