More RNC Stupidity

The 'net is abuzz over the latest RNC web ad. You can view it here for yourself....

Now some of the reaction has been a bit hyperbolic, but that still does not excuse the abject stupidity of the ad. I mean does anyone under the age of 50 know who "Pussy Galore" is? However, Utah's newest Congressional representative put it about right when he said...

"I thought it was reprehensible, irresponsible and unpersuasive. If we're going to regain the credibility of the American people, we're going to have to stop with silly antics like that. It may get a snide chuckle inside the Beltway, but it offends most people. We have to get away from the politics of personal destruction," he said of the video.

Rather than worthless resolutions trying to rebrand the opposition or trying to connect to the popular culture of 30 years ago, the RNC needs to be focusing on issues that are facing the country today! It's really that simple.

I don't know who the idiots responsible for these kinds of ads are, but the RNC could do much better if they would just fire them and concentrate on issues instead of personalities!

  • I would say it's just ineffective and a waste of money. You're right that most people have no idea who Pussy Galore is (though the facial resemblance is striking) and the ad doesn't even make that connection. All you've got is a fuzzy shot of Ms. Galore for a few seconds, the word "galore" at the end and that grating Bond theme. OK, the CIA are spies, James Bond is a spy, I get it. Now, quickly, what was the point of the ad?

  • Most Americans (whatever their age) have no idea who Nancy Pelosi is, either. The GOP is playing to a smaller and smaller audience.

I'm still registered as a Republican because I've been too lazy to switch my party affiliation to "none" or "independent." Want to know what would bring me back as a GOP voter? If the party decided to embrace the rule of law and called for prosecutions of all the Bush administration criminals.

  • Only somebody that thinks Nancy Pelosi is among the best and brightest could believe that it is reasonable to "prosecute criminals" from a US administration when there are terrorists out there actively working to kill us all.

Tell you what. If you can find something to charge Bush administration officials with, have the trial. Then, if ANY terrorist attacks occur under Obama, anywhere in the world, he goes on trial for murder. Fair?

  • Richard - sadly I fear you are correct when you say that a whole lot of people don't know who Nancy Pelosi is. It is a sad state of the electorate.

HOWEVER.....if there are any trials to be had, then you had best be lining up a lot of Democrats as well because they were all saying the same thing the Bush Administration was saying - Heck for that matter your own President is doing some of the same "criminal" activities (unlawful detention of foreign nationals no trials with out legal representation) that the Bush Administration did.....

J.Ewing is correct - find a law that has been broken and have your trials - but ENFORCE the rule of law for everyone and not just selectively....
