Constitution? What Constitution?????
What happened in Honduras was not a military coup. Honduras has a civilian president, Roberto Micheletti, a member of former President Manuel Zelaya's own Liberal Party, who was elevated to the post after Mr. Zelaya was removed. The army did not seize power, but acted as the elected government's instrument in ousting Mr. Zelaya, who was well on his way to subverting the Honduran constitution and erecting a dictatorship.
Emphasis mine. Let me emphasize again that this was a Constitutional action and not a military coup. The Honduran Supreme Court, in response to unConstitutional actions by Mr. Zelaya, issued an appropriate arrest warrant which the military carried out.
The President's response to this working of the Honduran Constitution? A move to rescind economic and military development agreements with the country.
However, this is not the only Constitution that our President is willing to ignore in order to advance his agenda (HT Hot Air).
Emphasis mine. I wonder how President Obama former colleagues in the Senate will take to being bypassed in such a blatent manner.
As my friend Ed Morrissey noted, this is not surprising in the least. There is a reason why Republicans spent so much time "obsessing" on then candidate Obama's relationships. Whether it is Bill Ayers or Jeremiah Wright or any of his other past radical associations, it is a clear window into the political philosophy of man. The political philosophy tells you how a person is going to govern.
The only ones "surprised" by all of this seems to be the journalists that glossed over all of this during the primaries. This is what happens when you buy into a meme without checking out the man behind the meme.
Update: - WELCOME Hot Air readers. Please take a moment to snoop around - open the cabinets and see what else is here.

This is fine and good, but Obama is not just aligning with "leftist autocrats," he is siding with the WHOLE WORLD except for Obama's enemies in the U.S. Please name one other country siding with Honduras and against Zelaya. It is not just the U.N., Venezuela and Cuba, it's everyone.

Congrats on the Hot Air header!
Anon, the whole world can pound sand. That is if by "the whole world" you mean that useless, corrupt bunch of Turtle Bay turds.
Latin American are sick of Presidents for Life. That's why Honduras has a constitution term limit (just like the US). Zelaya was trying to abrogate it with the help of his dictator buddy Chavez.
I know lefties love dictators. They gave us one last November, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him try to pull the same shit if he gets a second term.

Could we apply the phrase "it takes one to know one" to help understand President Obama's ease with Leftist Totalitarians? I think so. It seems at every turn Obama is more at ease with Leftist and Islamic Totalitarians, and that does not bode well for freedom loving people in America or throughout the world.

Well, duh. Of course Barry's comfortable with leftist tyrants.
The only difference between Der ObamanFuhrer and folks like HUGe-egO Chavez and Iran's Armageddon-eye-jab is merely a matter of TIMING.
Of this you can be sure. once they've gutted the Constitution and "legally" oppressed all opposition voices, they will be just as willing to use the same tactics against WE THE PEOPLE as any other tyrant in present or past history has against their own citizenry.

Well, Mr. Anonymous, maybe you should do your homework. Here's a good start:

See what they have to say.

I think it clear that the military merely acted to enforce the rule of law against a president who was acting illegally.
I am curious to know if Honduran military officers' oath includes, as in the US, swearing to support and defend the Constitution. And from there my mind takes tangents into worlds of "what if" given our current president's disregard and often contempt for the rule of law and the US Constitution.

It seems to me that Obama is running to defend this dictator-in-waiting because he sees the potential for the exact same thing happening to him when he doesn't get his wish, which is to be President-for-life of the US.

I'm new here so I'm trying to get my feet wet. :)

Anonymous....take a look at who you listed....
Cuba - has a Dictator for Life
Venezuela - has a dictator for life.
Two countries with dictators for life standing up AGAINST a constitutional removal of a dictator for life wanna be and our President is standing with them.
You just made my point!
