Something that the UN can fix.
Well this post is probably going to get me another accusation of hatred. Too bad! This is another one of those issues that are too important to ignore just because it makes the blind on the left uncomfortable!
Afghan children are being sold into slavery - in order to buy food for the family.
"Najibullah, an Afghan farmer with little crops due to drought conditions, sold his 8-year-old daughter, Somaya, to a 22-year-old man from a local village for $3,000. Najibullah had already used the man’s $600 deposit to buy warm clothes and food for his family.Ten-year-old Azizgul was sold in marriage to a 13-year-old boy. Her mother, Sahatgul, claims to have no choice but to sell all her daughters if necessary—at younger and younger ages. “We don’t have enough food and the bride price will enable us to buy food,” she remarked. “Our daughters are our only economic asset.”
That is the sad fact of life in the poorest country in the world - yeah sharia law did so much good for that country didn't it! Sadder still is that this goes on throughout the "Islamic world".
"Two years ago Yousuf Sadiq, then eight years old, and his brother Suleman, 7, were sold by their father for the sporting fun of a wealthy Gulf sheik. An agent who scours the poor villages and nomad camps of southern Pakistan bought the diminutive brothers to race camels in the United Arab Emirates. They fit the agents' ideal: aged between five and eight and weighing less than 17 kilos apiece. "
This website has gathered links to other sources of this hideous practice. This is exactly what the UN should be working on - not global warming.
