Ripped off!
AAA over at Residual Forces did a wonderful post the other day on the mis-use of funds for survivors of Hurrican Katrina and how this was a classic example of why we should NEVER entrust the same government that can not manage this with our health care!
"You want to find out the worst possible way to make something cheaper and more efficient? Give the Feds a shot at it. They’ll find every possible way to do it. Keep control of your life in your own hands, not that of the Government. So DFLers, take that Universal health care and head to commie land. No thanks. "
I forwarded to post along to one of my discussion groups because I really loved the conclusion that he came to in the post. That lead to some even livelier debate....
One member of the group, who lives outside of New Orleans was talking about all of the people in NOLA who were not able to get any assistance and yet inmates in prison who were no where NEAR the city were able to get assistance. That led to the further discussion of home owners insurance and how you need to get special riders to your insurance (that you pay extra for) in case you live in an area where you might actually NEED to use your insurance due to natural disaster (tornado riders in Oklahoma, earthquake riders in California, flood riders along the Mississippi - that kind of thing). Another talked about the need for actually giving people what they actually needed, instead of cash cards.
But the one thing that we all kept coming back to was AAA's conclusion that a government that can not keep from defrauding itself has NO BUSINESS running our already overtaxed health care system. Just imagine, as bad as things are now, how much worse it will be with the government takes over. How much rationing of care for the truly needy will take place, while perfectly healthy people are given government paid sex change operations and boob jobs!
